Lindenhurst Science Research Students Receive NYIT Grant

Two Lindenhurst High School 10th grade students have recently been recognized for their scientific research.

Lindenhurst Union Free School District is proud to recognize that two Lindenhurst High School 10th grade students have recently been recognized for their scientific research. Stanislav Kravechenko and Antonio Tejada-Toribio, from Christine Sanfratello’s science research class, have been selected to receive a $300 research grant from the New York Institute of Technology for their proposal: “Determining the Effects of Hypoglycemia in Diabetic Patients Using the Model Organism C. elegans.”

According to the submitted proposal, “The significance of this investigation would be to develop a greater understanding of the effects of hyperglycemia on the quality of life of diabetic patients. It will impact the future of diabetes research and help to educate diabetic patients as to the importance for them to monitor their glucose intake and ensure a healthy life.”
