Lindy Cares Youth Coalition In Action!
Did you know brushing your teeth after vaping does more harm than good?
On January 18th, members of the Lindy Cares Youth Coalition hosted dental hygiene students from Farmingdale University for an informational workshop discussing the importance of good oral
hygiene and the effects of vaping on dental health. The session included a pre and post-test to determine if the students achieved the learning objectives. One Lindy Senior conducted a career-building Q&A with exceptional Farmingdale students and is considering applying to the program herself. "It's amazing how much your overall health is impacted by oral hygiene" said Megan Scharf, the youth facilitator who has volunteered for the past 4 years to support students who enjoy working on social issues that are important to them.
There’s a youth driven, adult supported Lindy Cares Youth group that meets in the Middle School and the High School for students who want to create an environment in which everyone can thrive. A newly formed group meets at the Wyandanch High school as well.
