LONG ISLAND HOUSING PARTNERSHIP RECEIVES 2015
LONG ISLAND SOCIAL IMPACT IMAGINE AWARD
(Hauppauge, New York) – The Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP) was the recipient of the Social Impact Award at the 2015 Imagine Awards. Now in its third year, the event drew about 400 attendees from the business and nonprofit communities. In addition to the award, the Long Island Housing Partnership received a $5,000 grant.
The Cerini & Associates Social Impact Award was created to recognize the nonprofit that measures success not just by meeting its mission, but by affecting the surrounding community. Impact goes beyond the number of children served, shelters provided and mouths fed. Impact looks at how the organization affected the Long Island community as a whole and how the results have been measured.
LIHP’s programs have expanded significantly through the years and now include construction; providing technical assistance to municipalities, developers and not-for-profit organizations in the construction of affordable workforce housing; education and counseling, down payment assistance programs; neighborhood stabilization; residential rehabilitation; and one of the largest Employer Assisted Housing Programs in the nation. “There is no finer reward than to see someone – who believed they never could own a house – take the keys to their front door and walk into their first home!,” stated Peter Elkowitz, LIHP’s President & CEO.
