Man Drove Drunk, Crashed With Motorcycle Before Fleeing Scene: PD
The motorcyclist was left seriously injured after the 29-year-old man, who was allegedly driving drunk, crashed into him Saturday night.
LINDENHURST, NY — A Lindenhurst man drove drunk and crashed with a motorcycle, seriously injuring the motorcyclist, before fleeing the scene on Saturday night, according to Suffolk Police. Elvis Lazo, 29, was driving a 1999 GMC westbound on Hoffman Avenue, between New York Avenue and Albany Avenue, when his car crashed into a westbound 1989 Harley Davidson that was trying to make a U-turn on Hoffman Avenue at 11:40 p.m., police said.
Lazo then fled the scene, police said. The motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of serious injuries, police said.
Lazo was arrested a short time later and was charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident with serious injuries. He was held overnight at the First Precinct. Both vehicles were impounded.
