Man Runs Stop Sign, Crashes Into Cop Car In North Amityville: PD
The two police officers in the unmarked police car were hospitalized after the crash Tuesday morning.
NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — Two officers were hospitalized after a car crash in North Amityville on Tuesday morning, according to Suffolk Police. An unmarked Suffolk County police vehicle was traveling southbound on New Highway when it was struck by a 2005 Honda, driven by a man who ran a stop sign, at the intersection with Birch Road at 6:10 a.m., police said.
The vehicles then struck a 2004 Toyota. There were two male police officers in the police vehicle and both were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The driver of the Honda was issued multiple vehicle and traffic law summonses. The drivers of the Honda and Toyota, both men who were alone in their vehicles, suffered minor injuries.
