Narcan Used to Revive Woman Who OD'd on Heroin in Her Massapequa Home

Third time in less than two weeks that Narcan has been used in Massapequa.

For the third time in less than two weeks, the powerful opioid antidote Narcan has been used in Massapequa to revive a person who overdosed on heroin, police said.

According to police, Seventh Precinct officers responded to a Beach Street home at 4:13 a.m. Wednesday. Inside they found an unresponsive 29-year-old woman. First responders administered Narcan and performed CPR on the woman, who lives at the home, police said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition, police said.

The incident comes just three days after officers were called to a Merrick Road residence for a 19-year-old man who had overdosed on heroin was unconscious and having difficulty breathing. He was also revived with Narcan and treated at the hospital.

On Aug. 28, a 27-year-old man who overdosed on heroin in Massapequa was also revived with Narcan. Police did not say where in Massapequa that incident occurred.

Officials say Nassau County has seen a 100 percent increase in overdoses in a period of a year.
