Nassau & Suffolk County Coalitions Come Together for Safety!

PACT & Town of Babylon Cares coalitions share a message of safety & responsibility as Long Island prepares for Cannabis Dispensary Openings

PACT, the Nassau-based coalition (Partnering in action for change tomorrow), and the Suffolk-based Town of Babylon Cares coalition came together to roll out a campaign for the safety and responsible use of cannabis which will be available for adult use in the coming months. Various alliances, organizations, and government officials are working to ensure this budding new industry does not hit the pitfalls that data has revealed in other states who have already legalized cannabis. The campaign has an unmistakable message for safe storage and monitoring. The data-driven decisions to promote these messages are based upon the recent uptick in calls to poison control for accidental ingestion of cannabis products by children under five. The second goal is to drive home the fact that driving high is a crime and that it's no accident if you get behind the wheel of a car and cause a crash or preventable death. The campaign sought to find a way to be inclusive of all residents. Community coalitions are qualified to serve their unique communities but finding a message everyone can agree upon was easy because when it comes to protecting young developing minds or keeping our roads safer, everyone gets on board. The coalitions pooled the funds to pay for the creative for this campaign developed with the help of a local firm, PMG, known for embracing and understanding the need for prevention messaging. Additionally, the campaign is designed to be shared by all coalitions, to create a recognizable branded message of connecting our communities.
