Police: West Islip Sex Offender Must Move Within 45 Days

The Suffolk Police have given notice to a Level 3 sex offender living in West Islip that he must relocate within 45 days.

Police say Douglas Oates, who now lives on Higbie Lane, must notify police of his new address which will then be posted on the state registry service. According to a state crime database, there are five registered sex offenders residing in West Islip.

Babylon Panthers Win 2nd Straight Long Island Championship

The Babylon Panthers have climbed the ladder and run the gauntlet for the second straight year, winning an exciting game over the Roosevelt Rough Riders to take the Long Island Championship, 27-26.

The Panthers found themselves matched play-for-play by a tough Rough Riders rushing offense, which pushed three touchdowns across the end zone in the first half on fifty-plus yard runs.

The Lindenhurst Village Board unanimously approved a new law that allows for tax assessment relief for properties hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy.

Deer Park Fashion Students Create Dress for Breast Cancer Awareness

Two fashion design students at Deer Park High School decided to honor October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by creating a unique tribute and work of art.

Supported by Rita Murphy, their fashion design teacher, Alex Posillico and Ada Ramirez made a special breast cancer dress using only a mannequin and pink paper ribbons provided by the school’s SADD club.
