Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Car in Copiague

Police are investigating a crash that killed a male pedestrian in Copiague on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, a 17-year-old from Lindenhurst was driving a 2004 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on Sunrise Highway at Bayview Avenue when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway at about 2:40 p.m.

The pedestrian, Jorge Molina, 60, of North Amityville, was transported via North Amityville Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
