Police: Woman Seriously Hurt After Being Struck by Truck With Plow Attachment
Accident occurred in Copiague Thursday evening.

A Copiague woman was seriously injured after being struck by a pickup truck with a plow attachment Thursday evening, police said.
The accident occurred in Copiague at about 6:30 p.m.
Police said Blanche Pope, 53, was walking across New Highway, between 41st Street and 42nd Street, when she was struck by a 1989 GMC pickup truck that was traveling northbound on New Highway.

Pope suffered serious injuries and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Police helicopter, police said.
The driver of the truck, Alfonso Trotta, 58, of Farmingdale, was not injured. The GMC had a plow attachment, but it was not in use at the time of the accident, police said.

The truck was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. No criminal charges have been filed.
