Revitalization Of Downtown Lindenhurst Continues
Officials announced they are continuing to help make improvements to the downtown area after receiving several grants for projects.

LINDENHURST, NY — Lindenhurst Village officials recently announced several projects as part of the continuing revitalization of the downtown area. Last week Trustee RJ Renna, Frank Pearson of Greenman-Pedersen Inc., Chamber of Commerce President JoAnn Boettcher, Suffolk County Legislator Kevin McCaffrey, Mayor Michael Lavorata, Trustee Joan Masterson, Senator John Brooks, Deputy Mayor Maryann Weckerle and Brendan Cunningham of Assemblywoman Kimberley Jean-Pierre’s office, all gathered during a press conference informing the community of the projects.
The improvement projects are funded in part by a recent grant totaling a $350,000 from the Suffolk County Jumpstart Grant Program. The village also received a $200,000 grant last year from Suffolk County.
"This is one more step forward in the revitalization of the Village’s downtown," Lavorata said. "We look forward to putting these improvements in place with the funds from the Jumpstart grant."

One of those projects includes the village working with Greenman-Pedersen Inc. and using Suffolk County Jumpstart Grant funds to construct several bulb-outs along South Wellwood Avenue. The bulb-outs will improve pedestrian safety and create a more walkable downtown. In addition, 30,000 masks were donated to the downtown businesses by local resident and businessman, Franklin Cruz.
