Social Distancing Parade In Lindenhurst Set For Next Week
Check out how you can get involved in this community event to bring a little joy amid the coronavirus outbreak.
LINDENHURST, NY — Residents are planning a social distancing parade for drivers next week to help bring some joy to the community. Resident Chris Cox came up with the idea after seeing a video of teachers in another state driving around town to interact with their students from the safety of their vehicles. After seeing that, he decided he wanted do something similar for the Lindenhurst community.
"With COVID-19 being such a serious issue at hand right now many friends family and loved ones have not been able to physically interact with each other due to the stay at home order as well as social distancing to try and prevent the spread any further," Cox wrote on Facebook. "And I know for myself that not being able to see my friends or my loved ones would put me in a real funk of a mood."
The parade is set for Saturday, April 11, at 12:30 p.m. Those who wish to participate should meet at the Lindenhurst Middle School before venturing out. Drivers are welcome to go around town, playing music or honking and spreading cheer around Lindenhurst.
