Town of Babylon 34th Annual Womens' History Month Program
Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories, March 28th, 2o23
Lindenhurst Community Cares Coalition was honored to attend the "Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories" 34th Annual Town of Babylon Women's History Month Program.
Honorees included: Patricia Cahaney, Girls Inc. of Long Island, Verdel Jones, Ledy Torres, Allysson Ullendorfer, Lindenhurst residents, Diane Reynolds of Diane's Dance Center, and Lori-Ann Novello of Lindy Cares Community Coalition.
Lindy Cares was represented by the board of directors, members, volunteers, and students. The coalition seeks to foster a community of respect and promises to represent the voices of our peers and advocate for policy to create an environment where we all believe we can thrive.
Prevention means we look out for the pitfalls ahead and pave a brighter, more straightforward path for those who come after us.
The coalition members were thankful to be standing with great government leaders and surrounded by honorees and guests from different organizations with missions that tie us all together and unite us as changemakers, teachers, caregivers, mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends.
Thank you to the Town of Babylon human services office, Traci Fonville, Commissioner and Marcus Duffin, Deputy Commissioner for creating a forum for gathering so many organizations in one place. In this setting, we can visualize our roles in context with others. The sooner we find our connections and link our unique contributions to health and prevention by sharing our special talents, the sooner we find the strength to increase the protective factors in the communities in which we live.
Dancing, empowering leadership, civic responsibility, voter awareness, and studying our history give all women a voice and opportunities to excel so we can propel our missions forward together to support each other.
Our faith keeps us strong, and hope carries us forward even though sometimes the things we hear and witness break our hearts. It's often in the face of challenges that the capacity to create change is born, and what started as a healing journey for many of the adult members of Lindy Cares vowing to share personal experiences to help those who came after turned out to be a sister and brotherhood of connecting with like-minded people of all ages and backgrounds looking to do good work, to share their blessings and weave the message of prevention and community caring into the culture of our community. Be a part of the solution and join now: www.babyloncares.org. All are welcome.
