Town of Babylon Taking Steps To Address Coronavirus Outbreak
There have been no reported cases in the Town of Babylon, but officials have begun taking preventative measures.

TOWN OF BABYLON, NY — The Town of Babylon announced on Monday steps they are taking to address the recent spread of coronavirus on Long Island. As of Tuesday, there is one confirmed case in Suffolk County and 19 in Nassau County.
While there have been no confirmed cases of the virus in the Town of Babylon, officials have begun taking preventative measures. According to a statement from the town, these steps include town cleaning crews frequently and thoroughly sanitizing town properties such as Town Hall, senior centers, youth centers and recreation facilities. In addition, hand sanitizers are being placed throughout town buildings for both residents and employees.
"Town officials are continuing to monitor the situation and will take steps to reschedule/cancel any events if necessary and inform the public," the statement read.

The town also provides helpful tips for residents including:
- Wash hands thoroughly and often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, especially before eating.
- Avoid contact with sick people.
- Always cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
- Gather and update home preparedness kits, containing a thermometer, decongestants, anti-inflammatory drugs and acetaminophen.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
