Towns To Offer Special Marriage Ceremonies On Valentine's Day

Couples who want to make this Valentine's Day memorable can sign up for special ceremonies in the Town of Islip and Town of Babylon.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY - For Suffolk residents who want to make this Valentine's Day extra memorable, both the Town of Islip and Town of Babylon will be hosting special wedding ceremonies.

For the third year in a row, the Town of Islip will be offering an additional 3 hours of wedding ceremonies to accommodate residents looking to celebrate their special day in conjunction with the popular holiday.

"Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to begin a life together as a couple," Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter said.

Last year, Islip’s bilingual wedding officiants conducted 19 ceremonies, and anticipate even more this year.

"The Town of Islip offers an inexpensive alternative for your wedding ceremony that is both personal and professional," Town Clerk Olga Murray said. "It’s such a special day for the bond to begin, and you’ll never forget your wedding anniversary."

Nuptials will be hosted by appointment only in the Town Board room located at Town Hall on 655 Main Street in Islip between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Appointments will be offered on a first come first served basis and a facility use fee of $50.00.

To schedule your ceremony while appointments last, residents can call the Town Clerk’s office at (631) 224-5490, or visit islipny.gov for more information.

In Babylon, town clerk Gerry Compitello announced that for the first time ever, she will be hosting a Valentine's Day wedding marathon.

On Feb. 14, residents can get married in the boardroom at Babylon Town Hall, which will be decorated for the occasion.

"Who needs Vegas when you can come right here to the Town of Babylon?" Compitello said.

Ceremonies can be performed in english, spanish, creole and polish. Appointments for wedding ceremonies are on a first come first serve basis with Town residents receiving first priorities.

To get a spot, couples must apply for a marriage license on or before Feb. 8.
