West Babylon Woman Murdered, Killer Tries to Commit Suicide: Police

WEST BABYLON, NY- A 32-year-old West Babylon woman was apparently stabbed to death inside her home Saturday afternoon and her killer then tried to take his own life, police said.

Police have identified the woman as Sonja Williams, of 316 Sheffield Avenue.

Police believe the man who killed her was either her husband or partner, according to a Newsday report.

The man suffered self-inflicted wounds and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive.

Two children, ages 12 and 5, live at the home, which is located at the corner of Colonial Road, but they were not home at the time of the incident, police said. The children have been accounted for and are safe, police said.
