AMITYVILLE, NY - An Amityville woman was charged on Monday with animal cruelty for the second time in less than 2 years for keeping 12 pets in a home deemed "uninhabitable," according to the Suffolk SPCA.

Shannon King, 32, was accused of keeping 10 dogs and two cats "living in squalor" in her Sterling Place home, the SPCA said.

One of the dogs was severely emaciated and others were in poor condition, dehydrated, confined in cages with feces, the SPCA said.
