#84 - It's Time to Hit The Beach
Get your sunscreen ready as Long Beach's main attraction opens for the summer season May 28.
You paid your dues this snowy winter and spent seemingly endless rainy days inside this spring, all the while dreaming of the hot days of summer.
Now all that time and dreaming is about to pay off on May 28, when Long Beach opens its beaches to the public — #84 of Patch's 100 Things To Do In Long Beach series.
We've written about area beaches in the past, determining which beach was known for families, parties and competitive volleyball players, and, with a stretch of white sand from the West End to the East End, it's finally time for you to decide which beach suits you best.

"When the beaches open it means summer has finally arrived," City Manager Charles Theofan said. "We've prepared for all our beachgoers to have a safe and pleasant experience at the beach."
Long Beach residents can purchase season passes before May 28 at the Beach Park Office in Veterans Park, located behind the Recreation Center on Magnolia Boulevard, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Season passes are $50 for a family and $30 for an individual.

Seasonal and daily passes can be purchased on the boardwalk at Edwards Boulevard, as well as at several West End storefront locations.
So grab your passes early, lather on the sunscreen, and enjoy the beach season that you patiently waited to come. But remember to stay safe, learn the rules of the beach and only swim when a lifeguard is on duty.
