ISLAND PARK, NY — New details emerged in connection with a double homicide investigation Tuesday, as police released the identities of the women who were killed in the pair of fatal stabbings that took place in Nassau County last week.
In a statement Tuesday, police said they had identified the women as 42-year-old Long Beach resident Ana Maria Del Aguila Cordova and 32-year-old Valley Stream resident Eddy Raquel Hernandez Castillo.
Previously, NCPD said officers had found a 42-year-old woman who had been stabbed outside a Wendy's in Island Park just before 12:30 a.m. Friday, with the woman being pronounced dead at the scene by a police department medic. Police also said that officers had found a 32-year-old woman who had been stabbed in a home on Mineola Avenue in Valley Stream just a couple of hours later, at 3:13 a.m.
Police announced the arrest of 22-year-old Rony Yahir Alvarenga Rivera Saturday in connection with the fatal stabbings of two women, one of which took place in Island Park while the other took place in Valley Stream.
Police said Saturday that Alvarenga-Rivera had been charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. Court documents show that Rivera has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
