• Long Beach City Council Tables Trash Code Reform (patch.com) — Long Beach residents may soon see stricter rules on how bars and restaurants handle their trash, after the City Council debated but ultimately tabled a proposed code overhaul. Officials say requiring cans or dumpsters instead of bags would reduce rodents and improve quality of life, but councilmembers want to resolve storage and aesthetic concerns, especially in the west end, before voting.    

• U.S. Open 2026 golf watch parties on Long Island (newsday.com) — Long Beach golf fans can catch the U.S. Open final on June 21 at Long Beach Coffee and Tea, which will show the tournament on more than 20 big screens with drink specials and indoor golf simulators. The guide also highlights other viewing parties across Long Island, from Southampton’s outdoor JumboTron to bars in Hauppauge, Holtsville, and Great Neck.
