Car Accident Causes Delayed Opening For Long Beach Schools

Fire fighters say the car hit a hydrant, which caused a water main break on the road leading to both the middle and high schools.

It's like the first snow day of the year for Long Beach students — a car accident on Lido Boulevard has cause a two-hour delayed opening for both the middle school and high school.

How did one car cause that? According to the Long Beach Fire Department, a car drove into a fire hydrant in the area, causing a water main break that shut down Lido Boulevard. It also caused the district to cancel all of its morning pre-kindergarten classes.

The middle and high schools are located very close to each other, both on the north side of the same stretch of Lido Boulevard.
