City Council Sends Letter To Trump To Try To Save CDBG
The council says Long Beach could lose $400,000 in funding if the program is eliminated.

On Monday, the Long Beach City Council and the City Manager sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging him to not eliminate the Community Development Block Grant program.
Trump proposed eliminating the CDBG program in his budget. The Long Beach City Council says it would take away $13 million from Long Island, and $400,000 from the city itself. In its letter, the council called the elimination of the CDBG program "unprecedented and unconscionable."

that supports critical services for our most vulnerable residents," the letter reads.
Community Development Block Grants are used for many programs throughout the city, including job training, programs for seniors and children, homeless assistance, Hurricane Sandy rehabilitation, community improvements and more. Money from CDBG grants also goes to local non-profits that provide vital services to the city and its residents.
