A Snow Emergency has been declared in Long Beach as of midnight on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the area beginning at midnight Saturday and lasting until 7 a.m. Sunday.

There will be a full moon high tide, enhancing the potential for coastal flooding, particularly on the North Side of Long Beach in typically flooding hotspots.

High winds will provide an additional challenge in the form of blowing snow.

Public Works crews will be out throughout the weekend to clear the roads and check on the drainage system.

The following roadways are the declared snow emergency routes and will be cleared of vehicles and snow, beginning Saturday at midnight:

  • West Beech Street between New York Avenue and Nevada Street
  • West Park Avenue between New York Avenue and Nevada Street
  • The west side of Maryland Avenue between Beech Street and Park Avenue
  • Shore Road between Long Beach Road and Maple Boulevard
  • E. Pine Street between Neptune Boulevard and Curly Street
  • Park Place north of Park Avenue
  • Lincoln Boulevard, from Park Avenue to East Bay Drive & East Bay Drive, from Lincoln Boulevard to Monroe Boulevard

Due to expected blizzard conditions, Long Beach officials are asking residents to stay off the roads on Saturday.

All City recreation programs and facilities have been canceled for Saturday.
