“As a West End Resident and Democratic City Council Candidate Anthony Eramo should be on the front lines with us, fighting to make sure that not a single voter is disenfranchised from the election process; yet for some reason he has remained completely silent on the issue."
Long Beach’s Republican “Clean Slate” City Council Candidates Mike Franceschini, Janna Jachniewicz, and Damian Walsh have publicly criticized their opponent, Democrat Anthony Eramo for, once again, abandoning one of the key constituencies he says wants to represent on the Long Beach City Council.
Eramo, a Long Beach West End Resident and one of the Democrat Candidates for Long Beach City Council, has refused to publicly condemn the Nassau County Board of Elections Democratic Commissioner’s decision to not reopen West School for voting on Election Day.

Franceschini, Jachniewicz, and Walsh said, “As a West End resident Eramo should be on the front lines with us, fighting to make sure that not a single West End voter is disenfranchised from the election process; yet for some reason he has remained completely silent on the issue. We are calling on Eramo to speak out on behalf of our neighbors and friends in the West End so they can vote in the traditional polling place they have had for over four decades.”
The candidates added, “We can’t understand why Eramo, a candidate who says he is proud to be from the West End, seems to refuse to stand up for West End residents now. If he can’t stand up and fight for them now as a candidate now, how can anyone in the city expect him to fight for them as a member on the city council? You either stand up or fight or you don’t. It’s time for Eramo to put his money where his mouth is.

According to the candidates, Eramo has a record of saying one thing and doing another. Anthony Eramo touts that he is a “Proud Union Man” and he is against any layoffs. Yet, back in 2012 when the Mandel Administration handed nearly 60 employees layoff notices, Eramo was nowhere to be found. The CSEA fought the layoffs and packed city council meetings with union supporters. “Where was Anthony Eramo when those meeting took place? Where was Eramo, the “Union Man” when hard working men and women were laid off and families were hurt? He was nowhere to be found! It seems that Anthony Eramo has a habit of not showing up when people need someone to take a stand. That is not the type of person we need representing the people of the City of Long Beach. We need strong decisive people,” said Franceschini, Jachniewicz, and Walsh.
The “Clean Slate” Candidates added, “Long Beach residents needed elected official who will stand up and speak for others. We will do just that, as candidates and as elected officials. Anthony Eramo has shown numerous times, he will not. If you don’t believe us, look at what he has done. His actions speak louder than his words.”
