Cops: 2 Nassau Banks Held Up Tuesday
Bethpage and West Hempstead banks held up hours apart by separate subjects Tuesday, cops said.

A man robbed a West Hempstead bank Tuesday afternoon, just hours after another man attempted to rob a bank in Bethpage, according to Nassau County Police.
Police said an unknown man entered Chase Bank on Hempstead Turnpike in Bethpage at 10:55 a.m. and demanded money from a teller. The man handed over a note and also made verbal demands, which caught the attention of other tellers, cops said. The man fled the bank through a parking lot through Randal Drive without any proceeds, police said.

Five employees and one customer were present in the bank at the time, cops said.
The subject was described as a black man, 35-40 years old, 6-foot, and was wearing a New York Yankees baseball hat, sunglasses, a black baggy shirt, and dark colored cargo pants.

At 1:55 p.m., another man approached a teller at Capital One on Hempstead Turnpike and verbally demanded money. The teller cooperated and handed over an undetermined amount of cash before the subject fled in a light-colored car east through the bank parking lot, police said.
Five employees and one customer were inside the bank at the time of the robbery, cops said.
The subject is described as a white man in his mid-40s, 5-foot-8, and was wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, sunglasses, and a New York Yankees baseball cap.
The two robberies are unrelated, police confirmed.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about either incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
