Equinox Creates Unique Long Beachhenge Effect

The sun lined up perfectly to create a rare -- and beautiful -- photo opportunity.

(Fred Greco)

Twice a year -- at the Spring and Autumn Equinox -- the stones at Stonehenge align with the sun and frame it in spectacular ways.

The same thing happens in New York City, when the sun aligns perfectly with the east-west grid of the city streets. It also happens in Long Beach.

Photographer Fred Greco snapped the fantastic shot above on the last day of winter, when the sun was perfectly aligned with the boardwalk.
