Franceschini, Jachniewicz, Walsh & Hommel Call on Dems to Help Open West School For Election Day Voting

“With West School reopened and operational there is absolutely no reason whatsoever why West End residents should not have their traditional polling places open for business this coming Election Day,”

Long Beach Clean Slate Republican Candidates Mike Franceschini, Janna Jachniewicz, Damian Walsh and Ted Hommel are calling on the Democratic City Council Candidates and the current members of the city council to join them in urging the Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner William Biamonte to assure long Beach’s West End residents that West School will be available for West End residents to vote at this coming Election Day.

For some unknown reason the Democratic Commissioner at the Board of Elections, William Biamonte, appears to be refusing to reopen the voting polling place at West School for Long Beach’s West End voters.

“With West School reopened and operational there is absolutely no reason whatsoever why West End residents should not have their traditional polling places open for business this coming Election Day,” the candidates stated.

The candidates continued, “As the city and its residents try to return to a sense of normalcy after the devastation of Super Storm Sandy it is only right that West End residents be permitted to vote at the location that they have voted at for more four decades.”

“The only person keeping West School from being open on Election Day is the Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner William Biamonte and there appears to be no logical justification for his refusal to do so,” they added.

"We are calling on the Long Beach Democratic candidates and current members of the city council to join us in urging the Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner to make sure that West School will be open for voting this Election Day," said Franceschini, Jachniewicz, Walsh and Hommel.

The candidates added, "Traditionally and historically West School has been a polling place on Election Day for West End residents. Now that West School has fully reopened there is no reason why the West End residents should be asked to vote at a different location this Election Day.”
