People can remove trash from the canals and on the streets during the weekend activity in Long Beach.
LONG BEACH, NY — You can give back to the community this weekend.
The Surfrider Foundation is holding its 9th Annual Canal Area Clean-Up on Saturday morning.
Those participating will meet at the corner of Heron Street and East Chester Street.

During the two-hour event, people will have the opportunity to collect trash in the canals or gather on neighborhood streets to collect debris before it reaches the waterways, the city posted on its website.
It is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to noon.

Cleaning supplies will be provided, but anyone wanting to tackle the water directly should bring their own gear.
