Hurricane Sandy Anniversary: Share Your Memories of Long Beach
What do you remember most about the storm?

Wednesday marks the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy unleashing its destruction upon Long Island.
We asked readers on the Long Beach Patch Facebook page to share their memories of the historic storm. Here is what a few had to say:
Ilyse Caryn: My memories of the storm are ones that I would like to keep as just memories. Horrible and tragic memories that brought this town together and made us even stronger than ever. I am proud to be from Long Beach and forever have LB sand in my shoes.

Trisha Eisel: Rather not think about it .just Pray it Never Happens Again .Nd most of All Pray THAT all the people who are still out of homes nd Pocket trying to pay mortgages nd rent got a break .nd love to the friends who had to move away for ever .... Nd MAYBE Someday we will get our Hospital back ......
Paula Abramson: I remember water rushing down olive street like a gushing river. The sea foam slowly started down the cross streets and I knew that it was gonna be a long night. Then the lights went out. People ran Into the flood water to save their vehicles.
Felix and Jen Bobe: We have many memories however we choose to focus on moving forward. We are still not home but remain positive as we work together as a community of friends, neighbors and strangers helping each other until everyone is home. Long Beach is a wonderful place to call home.
Aimee Rychlowski: Watching the waves come over the boardwalk, partying with good neighbours and friends and waking up to a nightmare! Only thing that eclipsed the loss was the support of people everywhere, whether volunteering, donating, being there for one another!
Alejandra Tepper: It was horrible.”.scary...sad....tragic...I hope I don’t have to see something like Sandy in my lifetime...and God protect us from evil!!!!
