James Metzger Honored By Island Heart Association

The 25th annual golf classic to support the Long Island region of the American Heart Association recently honored business executive James C. Metzger, a Point Lookout resident.

Metzger is CEO and founder of The Whitmore Group, a leading insurance services and estate planning company in the New York metropolitan area that is headquartered in Garden City. For more than two decades, The Whitmore Group has focused on all facets of personal and commercial insurance along with estate planning.

The annual AHA outing and fundraiser also is a tribute to Joel Hamroff, a past honoree, board member and president of the American Heart Association on Long Island. Hamroff passed away from heart disease 15 years ago, and a connection between his son, Marc, and Metzger brought the two together to raise the highest amount of money for any single golf outing for the organization.

“Marc shared with me that he and his dad were best friends and that his father was a significant influence in his life,” said Metzger. “This is very comparable to the relationship I have enjoyed all my life with my father.”

Metzger is one of the most civic and community-minded businessmen on Long Island, supporting education and athletics along with other charities throughout the greater New York area. He is involved with Hofstra University, Hempstead PAL, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island and many other programs.
