Oct. 22, 2014 Brooklyn, NY - MatchPoint NYC Premier Gym is dedicated to improving health and the well-being for their members while enhancing the overall fitness experience for the entire family. MatchPoint NYC which was previously home to the Brooklyn Racquet Club, is organizing this tennis festival as a means of introducing young people to the sport while also encouraging their healthy development and advocating against bullying. MatchPoint NYC is delighted to give back to Brooklyn; a diverse and multifaceted borough which has eagerly welcomed, embraced and supported the facility.
Located at 2781 Shell Road Brooklyn, NY, the 120,000 square feet will hold the “ Say No to Bullying!” fitness day on November 9, 2014 from 1pm to 4pm.

“At MatchPoint NYC we are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people of all ages, “says Dimitry Druzhinksy, co-founder of MatchPoint NYC. “Our aim is not to cultivate every child into a professional athlete but rather to cater to the balanced development of all our children.”
MatchPoint will be giving free blood pressure screenings to the public and they will be introducing the exclusive Real Ryder Indoor Cycling which allows participants to experience real interactive cycling the first fitness program of its kind in New York City. MatchPoint NYC has an experienced and talented staff of instructors, nutritionists and trainers that are licensed and certified with qualifications that included National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and NSCA’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). The trainers will also demonstrate KettelBell, Postural Assessment ( to teach how to stretch muscles properly) that will go along with MatchPoint’s NYC Assisted Flexibility Workshop.
Another highlight of the event will be the opportunity to meet tennis star Dinara Safina. A former world class tennis player, the Russian-born Safina’s accomplishments include winning the women’s doubles at the 2007 US Open and Olympic silver in women’s singles at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The tennis star will be available to autographs, photos and various activities with the public.
Don’t miss “ Candice H. and the Bully” author Judy Cirton , will be giving out FREE books to the children that attend this event to further guide children in communicating when they are being bullied and to also prevent further bullying.
Here is the included schedule of the ” FREE KIDS DAY - Say No to Bullying” day at MatchPoint NYC:
· 10-year old Ariella Shlayan will open the program, leading the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the National Anthem. Produced by Vocal Art Studio of Brooklyn, NY, her performance will begin at 1: 30 pm.
· Hands-on entertainment for kids who will love using state-of-the art commercial bounce houses and obstacle courses. Available from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
· Balloon artist, on hand from 1:15 – 2:15 pm.
· Professional face painters, 1:15- 3:15 pm.
· Best members of MatchPoint’s NYC Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, performing highly skilled group routines that incorporate dance and acrobatics and make use of challenging equipment. Kids will be inspired by their flexibility and athleticism. Performance from 1:40 – 1:55 pm.
· Cirque du Soleil performers who combine amazing feats of juggling with acrobatic dance. They’re on from 2:00 – 2:15 pm.
· Hip Hop Youth Dance Show by Encore Events, guaranteed to get kids up and moving! Performance from 2:20 – 2:25 pm.
· “Don’t Mess With Me!” Class to instill confidence in kids, teaching them techniques of self-defense and how to fight depression as well as why they should never bully others.
· Chance to meet Dinara Safina, who will once again be on hand to sign autographs, pose for photos and even play tennis with MatchPoint’s future stars! She’ll be there from 2:30 – 3:30 pm.
· Tennis free play with MatchPoint NYC’s finest coaches,enabling kids to learn from the best: 2:30 – 4: 00 pm.
· Concession stands offering fresh popcorn and cotton candy, open all afternoon.
· Party favors and coupon flyers will be handed out to all guests.
· Free raffle for members with prizes distributed to all winners!Take a chance on winning something great donated by Coca Cola; Mercedes Benz ($2000 off a car!); Bensonhurst Dental (free cleaning), or Dr. Blay (free eye examination).
About MatchPoint NYC
MatchPoint NYC is Brooklyn’s newest, one-of-a-kind sports facility located in the Coney Island section of the Borough. This multi-sports complex, which opened in March 2014, features nine indoor tennis courts and five dedicated courts for kids10 and under. Yearly membership ranges from $600 - $1200 (for the entire family.)
