LI Man Arrested For Trying To Sell Resident-Only Beach Passes: PD
Police say the man was reselling the passes for hundreds more than they were worth.
LONG BEACH, NY — A Long Beach man was arrested Saturday after police say he was trying to resell resident-only beach passes online to non-residents for highly inflated prices.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, Damian Davidson bought four resident-only beach passes from the city for a total of $140. He then posted an ad on Craig's List reselling the passes for $250 each, police said. The ad read, “With City Beaches closed and island beaches being resident only I have family beach passes for Long Beach for sale 250$(sic) price negotiable passes good all summer.”
Police say that Davidson then sold two of the passes to an undercover Long Beach police officer for $260. When officers tried to place him under arrest, Davidson ran, police said. After a brief foot chase, Davidson was placed under arrest.
