Long Beach 2019-20 School Budget: What You Need To Know
Here are the most important facts to know before you head to the polls on May 21.

Long Beach residents will head to the polls on Tuesday, May 21 to cast their ballots for the proposed 2019-20 school budget.
The proposed 2019-20 spending plan totals $142,391,528 -- a $2.47 million increase, or 1.76 percent, over the current spending plan. For taxpayers, that comes with a 1.92 percent increase in the district's tax levy, or $1.96 million.
According to the district, it was saved the hit that other districts got in the form of employee benefits, which remained mainly the same from year to year.

The district says that the tax levy increase will go to enhancing the science programs in the elementary schools, as well as the elementary libraries. The district will also be adding robotics teams at the middle school and high school, and a Junior Varsity hockey team.
There will also be security improvements to the Lido Complex and the high school included in the budget, the district said.

Residents will be able to vote on the budget, as well as for the library budget and Board of Education and library trustees, on Tuesday, May 21 between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. at one of five different polling locations:
- Lindell School Election District - 601 Lindell Boulevard, Long Beach
- 225 W. Park Election District – 225 W. Park Avenue, Long Beach
- East School Election District, 456 Neptune Boulevard, Long Beach
- Lido/Middle School Election District, 239 Lido Boulevard, Lido Beach
- Point Lookout School Election District, Bishop Molloy Recreation Center, 15 Parkside Dr., Point Lookout
