
LONG BEACH, NY - Long Beach was recently ranked as one of the "cleanest beaches in the U.S." by the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), according to an article in The Active Times.
The NRDC, which works to "safeguard the earth—its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends," according to their website, ranked a total of 14 beaches across the state.
Long Beach was second on the list following Dauphin Island Public Beach in Alabama.

The beaches ranked were from a several different states with Hawaii and Alabama being the only states to make the list twice.
The 3.3 mile beach with a 2.2 mile boardwalk has been reviewed on TripAdvisor as being safe, clean, and having great waves, according to the article.

"There are no animals permitted on the beach, no barbeques allowed, and alcohol is prohibited," the article reads. "This results in one of the cleanest beaches in the United States."
