Long Beach To Resume Recycling On Wednesday

The coronavirus forced the city's contractor to temporarily shut down, but now recycling is set to resume.

LONG BEACH, NY — The City of Long Beach announced that, after nearly two months, recycling is set to resume this week.

The city was forced to stop collecting recyclables in mid-April because the contractor that handles the recycling was hit hard by the coronavirus and did not have the staff to process materials.

Single-stream recycling will resume on Wednesday, June 10, the city said. All recycling will be put into a single container. The city said it expects to resume two-stream recycling (separating paper from other materials) in July.
