Long Beach Taxi Driver Arrested On Child Porn Charges: Police

Police say an investigation into him on a different matter led to them recovering multiple images and videos of child pornography.

A Long Beach taxi driver was arrested yesterday on multiple charges of having child pornography, Long Beach police said.

According to police, Thomas J. Stanford, 38, of Long Beach, was arrested on five counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child less than 16 years old. The arrest came from an investigation into Stanford on an unrelated matter, police said.

During the course of their investigation, police received a warrant to search Stanfords phone, where they allegedly phone the child pornography. Police say officers recovered thousands of pornographic images and videos from Stanford's phone, many of which appear to depict children under 16.

Stanford was arrested on June 10 and the Long Beach Police Department Headquarters, and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Long Beach City Court.

In addition to the charges, Stanford's taxi license was revoked. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
