Girls' Lacrosse Title Games Set

After a contentious playoff process, the county championships in girls' lacrosse are booked.

Top-seeded Massapequa will take on 3-seed Syosset at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27 in the Class A championship at Farmingdale State. The two teams played once this year, on May 7, and Massapequa walked away with a 19-9 victory.

Then, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, top-seed Garden City will take on Manhasset in the Class B championship game. A May 2 matchup between the two ended in a 16-8 win for Garden City.

On Thursday, May 28, #1 seed South Side and #2 seed Wantagh will compete for the Class C championship before #1 seed Cold Spring Harbor and #3 seed Carle Place go head-to-head for the class D title. Wantagh and South Side last played April 23, with Wantagh winning 10-9 in overtime. Wantagh has proven tough to beat in extra time this year, advancing to the finals after a 13-12 overtime win against Plainedge in the semis.

As for Carle Place and Cold Spring Harbor, the championship game will be their first time facing off this year.
