Founded in 1960, the Krasnoyarsk National Dance Company of Siberia is lovingly embraced by its homeland and has won over audiences worldwide during its 55 years in existence. Mikhail Godenko, founder and choreographer, brings popular Siberian folk dances to the stage, complete with 55 dancers and an array of gorgeous folk costumes. Stretching from the Arctic to the border of China, Siberia is a world of cultures—and this vibrant dance company brings influences from many of them to the stage—from leaping, twirling Cossack soldiers to brightly clad peasant dances drawn from centuries of tradition. The company’s orchestra utilizes folk instruments to interweave regional music resulting in a performance that showcases tradition. $42, $39.
