Our Platinum Patriots
Will we be honoring our fallen this Memorial Day weekend, as we should?

Memorial Day is the blast off for the summer season, here in Long Beach and America. The flags will be flying and beer chugging. Sure, who doesn’t like a holiday weekend especially at our city by the sea.
Some call Long Beach—three miles of party.
It’s been said every year, “Take time out to think about those who served and died for us." And it’s true, we need to at least pause and think about what sacrifice really means.

Only one percent of Americans pause their career lives and serve in our military. That’s a tiny amount of American souls who give so much for so many.
But it’s their families, too that I think about.

These military families support their sons and daughters marching off to serve for America, serve to keep us safe. And when they die, they too, die a bit—right along with them.
It’s as if parts of their family’s whole, their legs, their arms, have been ripped from them. Time may heal but never completely. There will always be that hole in their heart.
I think of these one percent as platinum Americans because they are so rare. I hope you do to:
Be well,
