Photos: Pros Hit Waves in Expression Session

While the main competition at the Quiksilver Pro New York was pushed back until at least Tuesday, , that didn’t stop the world’s top professional surfers from hitting the waves in Long Beach to show off their talent on Labor Day.

The “expression session,” as the event is known, showcased the pros’ best and most daring skills in an hour-long, crowd-pleasing contests. Adriano De Souza, Josh Kerr and Damien Hobgood were among those who showed off in the waist-to-shoulder-high swells. Prizes went to several surfers for top performances in the categories of innovativeness and best air.
