Pride On The Beach Returns To Long Island Next Weekend

A 5K, a concert headlined by Macy Gray and, of course, a Pride Parade, are just some of the events planned. Here's what you need to know.

Long Island will celebrate Pride Month in Long Beach next weekend with a bevy of events for everyone.

The weekend-long event will kick off on Friday, June 21 and run through Sunday, June 23. Long Beach will again be hosting events for people from all over.

The fun starts on Friday with a kickoff party at Junction, located at 20 W Park Ave. in Long Beach, starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday will also have a special Pride Shabbat service at Temple Emanu-El of Long Beach, as well as a Taste of Long Beach, with many local restaurants offering special dishes at special prices.

Saturday is for furry friends and fitness. The day starts bright and early with the Pride 5K and Family Fun Run at 7:30 a.m. Both races start on Laurelton Boulevard on the boardwalk. You can register for either race by clicking here.

At noon, let your pets strut their stuff in the Pride Pet Parade, which starts at the Long Beach Rec Center Gazebo. You can register your pet to march in the parade by clicking here.

Later in the afternoon, come to the shore for the Twilight Beach Party, which starts at 3 p.m. Get your friends and enjoy sand, surf and dancing.

The main events all happen on Sunday. The day starts with both the Pride Market Fair on the Boardwalk, as well as a Pride Mass at St. John's Lutheran By the Sea, both of which start at 10 a.m.

Then the 29th Annual Long Island Pride Parade steps off at noon on Broadway. Thousands of people are expected to be marching, matching the huge crowds from last year. The parade begins on Broadway at Lafayette Boulevard and makes a straight shot east to Long Beach Boulevard. After the parade, make your way to the beach enjoy a concert headlined by Macy Gray.
