Rally for Fair Contracts

The LBCTA and the LBSEA are joining forces on Tues., November 26 for a “Rally for Fair Contracts”. For more than four years the hardworking and dedicated members of the Long Beach Schools Employees Association have been working under the terms of an expired agree and the Long Beach Classroom Teachers Association for more than two years. Negotiations are at an impasse with no end in sight. During these years the Board of Education has routinely awarded raises to the top 1% of its employees. This year they rewarded the Superintendent and his assistants with 2% raises, principals and directors with 2.25-2.75% raises and even gave its law firm a 2.5% raise. Now the Board says it has no money to settle the contracts with 99% of its employees. No matter your political bent does this sound fair to you?
The Rally will take place in front of the Middle School (239 Lido Blvd.) from 7-7:30PM immediately before the Board of Education meeting.
