Members of the Long Beach Sanitation Department sprang into action this week to help return $5,000 to a woman who accidentally threw it out.

News 12 has the story about Bayban Nandalall, who accidentally threw out the money she spent months working for to pay for her mortgage. Luckily for her, her son, Krishna, works for the Sanitation Department. He called his coworkers, and they went to work.

It took a while, but the sanitation workers were able to reunite Nandalall with her money after sifting through 13 tons of garbage. She offered them some as a reward, but they turned it down.
