Shark Sightings Close South Shore Beaches Again
BREAKING: It's the second time this week that a shark has prompted officials to close beaches to bathing.

LONG BEACH, NY — For the second day in a row, a shark sighting has prompted multiple South Shore beaches to close their waters.
According to Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, a shark was spotted near Jones Beach Field 6, which is just a few miles from Long Beach and Lido Beach. The Town of Hempstead said that one of its lifeguards also spotted a shark in the waters off Atlantic Beach.
The sighting has prompted Jones Beach, the City of Long Beach, the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County to prohibit swimming at all beaches.

It is the second time in as many days that a shark sighting has closed the water to swimmers. Yesterdays closures were prompted by a Town of Hempstead lifeguard who spotted a shark.
There is no word yet on when the beaches will reopen for swimming, but people are still allowed on the sand. The Town of Hempstead said it's likely its beaches will be closed for the rest of the day.
