Slavery Not Cause of Civil War?

[The following is from The Creature from Jekyll Island, 5th Edition, 29th Printing, a book about the Federal Reserve and money.]

Lincoln said during his campaign for President in 1860:
"I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery..."

After the outbreak of war Lincoln said:
"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and it is NOT either to save or destroy slavery...."

In Lincoln's 4th debate with Senator Stephen Douglas he said:
"I am not nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races----that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality."

The real cause of the Civil War:
The South imported manufactured goods from the North or from Europe. The North and Europe bought cotton from the South.  The South found it to their advantage  to purchase manufactured goods from Europe rather than the North because it was cheaper.  The North levied import duties on goods coming from Europe.   Europe stopped buying cotton from the South which hurt the Southern economy.  The North raised their prices on manufactured goods without fear of competition.

[What do you think?  Is the above truth or fiction?]
