Town Of Hempstead 9/11 Anniversary Sunrise Memorial
The tribute takes place at 7:30 a.m. in Town Park Point Lookout.
POINT LOOKOUT, NY — To mark the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the Town of Hempstead holds its annual solemn tribute.
Long Islanders return to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, as they did during the horrors of Sept. 11, 2001.
On that morning, people headed to Town Park Point Lookout and looked to the west in shock. Ash and smoke filled the sky where the Twin Towers once stood.

The memorial service will remember the victims of the fateful day and also the first responders and rescue workers who lost their lives saving others.
The Town of Hempstead 9/11 Memorial Park was constructed to allow residents to pay respects in their own way. A memorial wall includes the names of the victims and a 30-foot steel beam from the Twin Towers.
