Unbecoming Art in Long Beach

The winter solstice is upon us and snow birds head south. But many of us stay home in Long Beach—and still have fun.

We stay birds stroll our shore, bike our boards, surf our sea. But lately there's more on our shore for us to see.

I came upon a remarkable man who’s a writer, musician, artist all neatly packed in a bundle of possibilities.

He’s new to our city by the sea and doesn’t expect to stay long. But while he’s here he’s caught the attention of many of you.

He started his days here trekking our shore in grief. But one day, grief needed catharsis and upon our sands—he created art.

People talked about him on Facebook, sought him out, chatted with him, took photos, made videos of his work. They were delighted with this new pilgrim from the Big Apple.
