New Long Beach volunteer firefighters are sought to assist in the community.

But not the Long Beach Volunteer Fire Department, whose members were on standby at the city's three firehouses.

The volunteer firefighters were ready to staff several pieces of equipment, including three pumper trucks, two ladder trucks, a heavy rescue truck and an ambulance.
