Molloy University Hosts 7th Annual Unity Through Diversity: Celebrating All Abilities in the Arts

Molloy University will host The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy’s 7th Annual Unity Through Diversity: Celebrating All Abilities in the Arts on Friday, May 1 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Madison Theatre at Molloy University, located at 1000 Hempstead Ave, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.

Created by The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy, Unity Through Diversity is a monumental evening featuring artists of all abilities and backgrounds from the neurodivergent community expressing themselves via music, dance, poetry, self-advocacy storytelling and visual artistry.

“This event is always a highlight of our year,” said Diana N. Abourafeh, MS, MT-BC, Board Certified Music Therapist for The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy. “We are so proud to showcase the amazing neurodivergent-run businesses, artists, performers, and hosts who make this celebration truly special.”

With nearly 500 people in attendance each year, the proceeds will benefit the Rebecca Center Client Scholarship Fund, a fund which provides scholarships to clients in need to support access to music therapy services at The Center.

Some of the performances will include:

Happy by Pharrell Williams as the concert opener that in all performers of the evening from the Molloy University MOST Program, Rebecca Center for Music Therapy participants, Born 2 Sing in the Backyard, and Bach to Rock via the Nicholas Center. Special features in this number are Jim Lentini, President of Molloy University, Michelle Piskulich, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Donald “DJ” Mitchell, Jr., Vice President of Office of Mission Integration and Inclusion.

Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne performed by Chris Troiano, and attendee of the Rebecca Center for Music Therapy for more than 20 years and is a consistent featured performer on the Unity Through Diversity concert.

Party in the U.S.A./I Love Rock and Roll mashup performed by Molloy University’s MOST Program for its third-year feature. MOST is a two-year program that provides individuals with developmental disabilities, aged 21-27, opportunities to identify and develop the social and academic skills required to successfully transition into a meaningful and engaged adult life while participating in a fully inclusive college experience.

This event is open to the public. Regular-priced tickets will be $20 until April 27th (no tickets can be purchased online after this date). Tickets at the door will be $25. Molloy students can purchase $5 tickets at the box office by presenting a valid Molloy ID. A Group Ticket Rate of $10 per ticket is available for groups of 10 or more—use promo code GRP25 before selecting your seats. The promo code is only valid when 10 or more tickets are purchased in the same order.
