Full Sturgeon Moon Hike

Full Sturgeon Moon Hike

Event Details

Vineyard Field, Long Pond Greenbelt, 377 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, Bridgehampton, NY, 11932

Friday, August 28 – Full Sturgeon Moon Hike. 8:30 PM-9:30 PM. Co-Sponsored by Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt (FLPG) and South Fork Natural History Museum (SOFO). Join us on a leisurely-paced hike a mowed open-field trail. The Native American fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this moon, since sturgeon were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the moon rises, it appears reddish through the sultry haze. Meet at the SOFO Museum parking lot, 377 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike, 200 yards north of the RR tracks. Leader: Dai Dayton. RSVP: 631-745-0689 or info@longpondgreenbelt.org.
